Hag Harris Award 2026

‘The Hag Harris Memorial Award’ - Applications invited.

Lampeter Town Council are delighted to invite applications from residents of Lampeter and the surrounding area.

This award has been set up in memory of the late Hag Harris who was a serving Town Councillor of Lampeter and a Ceredigion County Councillor.  He represented Lampeter in many official capacities was a tremendous all-round achiever of the highest calibre, and an extremely popular and well-known individual.

As Hag was an alumnus of St David’s University, Lampeter, & an entrepreneur, therefore applications are invited from those wishing to pursue areas of music, business, education and training or sport.

Criteria and guidance notes

• Applicants must be 16 - 30
• Applications need to be supported by a referee from someone who can support the application (e.g., teacher, lecturer, business owner, professional, colleague)
• We welcome applications from all backgrounds, race, and creed.
• The award could be spent on revenue or capital items. For example: purchasing equipment, tuition fees or the costs to attend a conference. This would be decided between the successful applicant and the award panel.
• The application should also, where possible, indicate how the award would benefit not only the individual but also to others e.g., providing training or support to others.
• The award could also support those who are nominated as reaching levels of high achievement and/or from disadvantaged backgrounds including care experience or carers.
• If the money awarded is not used due to unforeseen circumstances, then we may reserve the right to request for it to be returned.
• We would expect to be regularly updated on progress and any changes to the original application to how the money was going be used.
