Historically Lampeter was a traditional Market Town, with close links to the rural community and St. David’s College (now known as University of Wales, Trinity St David’s).

In the past it was an important stopping point for Drovers and travellers, as they travelled from the coast and the Cambrian Mountains on their journeys further afield. Today, we continue to be a perfect stopping place for visitors to Ceredigion, to experience the unspoiled independent shops and cafes.

Our location in the heart of the Teifi Valley, Ceredigion, Wales, brings many advantages, from a flourishing agricultural landscape, to an ideal place to live, perfectly situated, offering various places to work, to study and various clubs and organisations.

As a small town with a population of 2,504 (Census 2021), we pride ourselves, in being a closeknit and welcoming community, who welcome all, who decide to visti or settle here.

We are home to the University of Wales Trinity St David, the Welsh Quilt Centre and one of Wales’ oldest rugby clubs, a Wellbeing Centre and an ever growing bi-monthly market.

Culturally we are also part of Y Fro Gymraeg, as the Welsh language plays an integral part of our community life. Within our local 3-19 school, Bro Pedr, many of our our community groups, our annual Eisteddfod, Welsh is their day-to-day mode of communication. Our Welshness is also reflected in our local Papur Bro, Clonc and in the numerous clubs, held through the medium of Welsh, within our community.

Lampeter has developed into an inclusive and s cosmopolitan town and we welcome everyone, who decides to visit and live here, bringing their ideas and experiences to benefit our town.
